Just Futures – We Are Oceania

This video features an emerging grassroots organization, Pasifika Empowerment And Community Engagement (PEACE) founded by young Micronesians to address housing inequity in Hawai’i. PEACE works to build relationships, share food, give time, address policy and land issues, and ultimately enact the vision of a village grounded in Micronesian values. The team of PEACE is made up of Jessy Freddy Francis, Diopilo Hardison, K-nard Narruhn, and Jona Rewein. All four of these young men have experienced both the giving and receiving end of the work of We Are Oceania (WAO)and continue to be inspired by WAO’s mission: to empower Micronesians to navigate success while honoring the integrity of our diverse heritage. This video itself is a tribute to the village, and also features interviews with members of WAO Josie Howard and Tayreen Apong.
