Humanities New York conducted “What Does Democracy Demand?” — an online, four-event series exploring aspects of American democracy that are as essential as casting formal ballots. The core of the series was two virtual, keynote conversations/panels. Following each conversation, HNY hosted Zoom-based Community Conversations. Conversations focused on the same topics as the keynotes and allowed participants to engage in discussion about these topics, as well as the experiences participants have felt through the year. HNY also published on our blog and publicized a reading list of essays by our panelists.
